My current role involves understanding the research interests and directions of the researchers inside Data61 (a CSIRO business unit) and attempting to match those interests with the needs of CSIRO's business customers. 

Success for me is when our researchers solve important problems that give our business customers a huge competitive advantage. 

In the past I have had experience solving a wide variety of problems, in domains such as:

Bayesian groundwater modelling for coal bed methane gas.

Demand modelling, pricing and prediction for global seaborne freight. 

Finding patterns in Australian banking data.

Identity resolution for large government databases.

Recommendation systems for student to job matching.

Industrial processing systems analysis for improved performance.

David brings more than twenty years of oilfield experience, in Australia, and UK, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, Norway, USA, Africa, and Middle East. His background includes lead roles in mechanical, construction, planning, and systems engineering. He has particular expertise in integrated operations for Drilling, Subsurface, and Production, and a proven track record in consulting assessments which have identified more than ten billion dollars of value for his clients around the world. His client list includes Woodside, Santos, BP  (UK, Indonesia, Azerbaijan, and Angola), Shell International, Exxon, and ADCO, and he is the author of several publications in the area including SPE papers and a book for Shell. David founded Integrated Energy Pty Ltd to enable safer, more valuable operations and projects, which are better for the people working   on them and the environment around us. Integrated Energy do this by providing a better way of working which considers people, process, organisation, technology and the physical working environment. 

Tom Kendall B.E., M.Eng.Sc., M.B.A., FIEAust (CPEng, EngExec), FAusIMM, FIQ, MMICA, FAICD, is a Consulting Engineer with 40 years’ experience in mining, mineral dressing and heavy industry. He has specialist expertise in materials handling, underground and surface mine infrastructure, heap leach and CIP technology. Tom gained his initial operations experience in underground mines and mineral beneficiation plants with WMC Resources and in rock quarries with CSR Readymix.  He is an experienced design engineer who has engaged in the entire project development process for a range of mining and mineral beneficiation projects.

My focus at Momentum Engineering is on renewables and energy efficiency. Happy to discuss this and any related topics.

Completed a bachelor of Environmental Engineering from the University of Western Australia in 2004 and qualified as a civil engineer and currently practicing in this field. Has been involved with the design and management of several urban development and infrastructure projects to date.

Particularly focused on sustainable development and finding a way to implement and construct truly sustainable and smart urban development. This will involve integration of skills from various industries, such as energy, transport, planning, hydraulics, mechanical, and electrical fields. A major challenge will be breaking down the traditional barriers associated with planning, approvals, service provision, urban form and governance such that smart, ecologically friendly, socially vibrant and economically viable places can be achieved. Looking for people that share these thoughts and in order to build teams to make it happen.

Civil Engineer.

Passionate about renewable energy and sustainable development. 

Interested in pursuing postgraduate education or research in the interest of integrating renewable energy district based systems into subdivisions and remote developments.

Arthur is Managing Director of Pritchard Francis, civil and structural engineering consultants. Arthur has been Managing Director since 1998, during which time the business has grown over fifteen fold and developed into one of the most highly regarded practices in Perth. Arthur is also currently a Board Member of the College of Leadership and Management with Engineers Australia, a Committee Member of The George Hondros Memorial Lecture at The University of Western Australia (UWA), Chairperson of the Civil Engineering Industry Advisory Panel at UWA and a Faculty Industry Advisory Board Member for Engineering, Computing and Mathematics at UWA. Arthur has presented technical papers at both national and international conferences on building structures.

As Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics, Prof Dell has changed the profile of engineering education and research at the University of Western Australia, dramatically changing the education model and focussing the research to be more industry focussed and collaborative between disciplines.

Prof Dell joined the Faculty in 1994, after working for 10 years in industry developing technologies for optoelectronics at Telecom Research Laboratories in Australia and space radiation effects at Matra Marconi Space Systems (now EADS) in France. He was appointed Dean of the Faculty in 2010.

Prof Dell has more than 300 refereed publications. John’s work has resulted in the awarding of a number of US and Australian defence contracts. He is also a co-inventor of a number of patented device structures and fabrication technologies. He is joint winner of the inaugural DSTO/Australia Museum Eureka Prize for Outstanding Science in Support of Defence or National Security. This technology is now being developed for real-time analysis of soil properties for agriculture, as well as applications in food science, defence and medicine.

John has a strong commitment to research and teaching and believes strongly that the nexus between the two is essential, particularly in developing new ways to inspire and educate future engineers. He is particularly interested in developing leadership in students and graduates, and an understanding that solutions are not only technical but have social, economic and cultural dimensions that need to be taken into account.
